Welcome from the Director
Welcome to the Web site of the Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ISEEES) at the University of California, Berkeley!
ISEEES is dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge about a region of the world that currently encompasses twenty-eight states, covers eleven time zones, and extends from Central Europe in the west to Kamchatka in the east, from the Baltic states in the north to the states of Central Asia in the south.
With core faculty from 13 departments and 3 professional schools, and affiliated graduate students from 21 departments and 3 professional schools at Berkeley, ISEEES coordinates a wide range of scholarship, outreach activities, and graduate training programs on campus.
We invite you to browse through this site for further information about
these and other aspects of ISEEES, such as our designation as a National
Resource Center under Title VI, as well as information about our affiliated
units—the Berkeley Program in Eurasian and East European Studies,
and the Armenian Studies Program.
